Guillotine-style cutters are the most common type, and they are easy to use. Simply insert the nail into the opening and squeeze the handle to cut. Scissor-style cutters are more precise, but they can be more difficult to use. Grinder-style cutters are the quietest option, and they are good for cats who are afraid of nail trim.

Imagine receiving scratches from your lovie-dovie feline bestie while all you wanted was some cuddles. It feels like betrayal, isn’t it? Well, the most straightforward approach is to be realistic and keep your cat groomed if you do not want to be discontented! Cats tend to grow their nails long within a span of few days and thus it is extremely important to frequently keep their nails trimmed in order to maintain hygiene and avoid unwanted injuries. Keep scrolling till the end of this article if you want to know the importance of Nail Trimming in Cats and the Best Cat Nail Cutter Prices in Bangladesh
A cat’s claws are made of the same stuff as our nails: a hard substance called keratin. Keratin is a protein that grows in layers using nutrients from the living tissue it’s anchored to, called the quick. Keratin is a protein that utilizes the fast, or live tissue it is attached to, for nourishment as it grows in layers. Animal horns, hooves, nails, and hair all include keratin. Though surprisingly similar to human nails, cats' nails are sharper and more deadly due to a few anatomical variances.
The mound-shaped quick that is connected to the tips of a cat's digits is the source of the keratin layers that make up a cat's claws. The claws gradually shorten to a sharp point and grow around and over the blood vessel-rich area. On top of the quick, human nails, in contrast, grow in flat layers.
Because of this elongated growth, cats can easily shed their claws' outer layers, and owners sometimes observe shed claws—also known as "claw sheaths"—on the floor near their cat's usual scratching post! To maintain the ends of the claws healthy, sharp, and ready for action, the outer layer sheds. The tendons, muscles, and ligaments that allow a cat's claws to retract, however, are what make them so fascinating.
The distal phalanx, the outermost portion of a cat's finger, has a cuticle around the claw. Because the nail stays attached to the bone, it is stabilized and supported. The digital flexor and superficial flexor tendons are the two tendons that go between the claw and the bones; they are essential to the claw-sheathing mechanism. Depending on which tendon is tightened and relaxed, the other tends to either retract or lengthen the claw.
Keeping your cat's paws healthy starts with keeping their nails trimmed. A great pair of nail trimmer set can help you ease your job from the comfort of your home.
As you probably know, a broken nail hurts; if a cat breaks off or damages a claw near the quick, it can bleed. From a survival standpoint, a cat uses its claws as its primary hunting weapon and as its first line of defense when fighting. For this reason, a cat's claws must be retractable.
It's crucial to have your cat's nails clipped for a few reasons: Most significantly, growing nails might penetrate into your cat's paw pad, resulting in infections and discomfort, potentially making the affected limb difficult to walk on.
Here is a step-by-step to cut your cat’s nails:
There are different types of cat nail cutters including guillotine-style, scissor-style, and grinder-style.
It is possible for you to overcut your cat’s nail at some point. If you mess with the quick, attempt to hold onto your cat. Avoid applying pressure to the entire paw as this will have the reverse effect and increase blood flow. Instead, squeeze the tip of the claw to decrease blood flow.
Styptic powder or a styptic pencil can be used to immediately constrict the blood vessels of an open wound, thus it's a good idea to include one in your grooming kit. If you do not have access to styptic remedies, you can try applying a dry bar of soap or corn flour on the nail.
Even though it will hurt, an overcut nail is not a major wound and will usually heal rather fast. However if the cut is deep or serious, consider taking your cat to seek professional help.
